SeedCo Malawi provided a K15 million sponsorship towards the two day International Golf Open Tournament at Lilongwe Golf Club. The company’s Managing Director for Malawi, Boyd Luwe, told Maravi News that they targeted this particular income group with an insight that it can probably invest into commercial farming which is lagging at less than 10% in Malawi.

The Open begun on 9 November and closed the next day, as it comprised of three categories namely the Men’s Championship, Division A and Division B and the ladies category.

The tournament pitted 10 professional golfers from Malawi and Zimbabwe in an individual contest, as the rest of the golfers play the sport for leisure. Chrispin Mzokomera surged to the top, being the championship winner in Men’s nonprofessional category, while Fortune Lee carried the day in Ladies category.
