Recently, the Vice President Saulos Chilima toured the newly constructed Ntcheu–Tsangano-Mwanza road, where he hailed the Malawi Defence Force (MDF) Engineers Battalion’s construction of the road.
“This is very impressive,” said Chilima “the country needs such quality roads if we are to develop. We don’t need roads that only last a year before maintenance works starts. We need appreciate where our taxes are going to,”
The Road Authority (RA) Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Emmanuel Matapa said the project is the battalion’s biggest, since it was established as a company. Mapata said that the company will continuously be engaged for similar projects, in line with Public Service Reforms in which the Vice President was championing. “We were engaging them previously where we had emergencies but now they have moved into road construction and the quality of their work has been so impressive so far,” he said.
