67 members of Baps Shri Swaminarayan Mandir of Babs Hindu Temple in Area 4, Lilongwe, donated blood to the Malawi Blood Transfusion Service (MBTS).

Among the blood donors was Saint Hiren Patel who is a twenty-four time blood donor; Patel said that the donation by Baps was the fourth, while the organizer of the Baps Charity attributed the donation to a swift response to the call for blood donors made by MBTS.

MBTS needs at least 80,000 units of blood every year but only 65% is collected and supplied. In March this year, Football Association of Malawi (FAM) announces that it has a working agreement with MBTS to conduct blood donation activities whenever FAM organizes international and charity shield matches.
