Shree Hindu Seva Mandal Blantyre implemented Phase 4 of its relief program towards Cyclone Idai victims, donating medical supplies worth K5 million. The Donations Cordinator, Dharmendra P Lakhani, said the donation was made after findings that medical personal in the camps did not have propermedicines at their disposal to treat the patients.
Carrying out the donation, three medical teams comprised of MDF and South African Defense ForceDoctors, fly out every day, treating over 1000 patients. The donation included large supplies of Malaria Test Kits, medication for heart ailments, antibiotic tablets and syrups, infrared thermometers, BP machines, vitamin tablets and syrups, anti fungal creams, strong pain killers and 32 other medications which were desperately needed to treat the patients.
Regional Relief Officer for Dodma, Ephot Kachigwanda, thanked the Hindu community for their unceasing help towards the cause. “We appreciate the support of the Hindu Community since the country experienced disasters on 8th March.” said Kachigwanda, who outlined all recent phases that have been implemented, amounting up to K65 million which has assisted more than 7000 affected households that are situated in various camps. Principal Mitigation Officer for Dodma, Samuel Gama, also appreciated the community for reaching out to the affected families. “The supplies cater to Malaria and other ailments amidst the flood victims; be rest assured that these medical supplies will go a long way.”
Phase 4 was a swift response to Dodma findings that showed an urgent need for medical supplies in the camps.
