A new development has taken place on the rejected bill towards capping interest rates; the Human Rights Defenders Coalition has said it supports the passing of the bill, which Parliament’s Special Committee put aside for further scrutiny.
Banks have been criticized for having high interests and the bill proposes that there should be a regulated interest rate at which all banks should operate by.
HRDC’s involvement in the matter is a commended action as it is an institution that carries weight as citizens on their own may feel unworthy of voicing out their opinions.
