Lilongwe Water Board (LWB) is losing K854 million in revenue due to illegal actions, as established Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Forestry and Natural Resources, Dr. Henrie Njoloma.
The above was announced during the third Joint Coordinating Committee (JCC) online meeting in Lilongwe, as the Minister interfaced with LWB and the Japan International Cooperation (JICA), who reported the continued tendency of illegal connections in unscrupulous households.
However, earlier this month, the (LWB) assistant public relations officer, Maurice Nkawihe expressed the water board’s commitment to meet the high demand for water supply in the Capital City. Currently, the board is only able to supply 85% of 1 million households in the city, as the board expects the Lilongwe Water and Sanitation Project (LWSP) to complete in June 2023.
