Illovo Sugar Malawi recorded a K16.4bn profit in 2018, from 7bn recorded in 2018.

The major profit increase was presented to shareholders, who were transparently told that the profits were used to resolve debts.

Illovo Sugar Malawi employs more than 8000 people, with 5,800 permanent employees, not to mention 3700 seasonal employees.
