A remarkable step in trade has been, as Malawi is exporting mangoes to India. The development, which has been in the works since last year, has finally been signed upon by both countries.
In March this year, Malawi Mangoes (MM), a commercial fruit farming and processing enterprise, revealed its plans to export its exports to European and Indian markets. By the time, the main constraint of exporting to India was the Indian Government’s delay to process sanitary and phyto-sanitary (SPS) certificates.
With the Indian mango season starting in January, Malawian mangoes will have an advantage of being on the market for 2 months before the local mango varieties are available.
The development will be an addition to the Mango Puree that is already being exported to Zimbabwe and South Africa.
