The National Statistics Office has released a report that shows a pleasant inflation record that has seen the Malawi Kwacha have an average of 0.7 percentage points, higher than in January inflation records.
The inflation stats measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI) have also shown that food inflation lowered from 12.0% in December to 10.7% in January. As for non-food inflation, a decrease from 8.2% to 7.1% was noted.
As various economic experts asses and predict inflation rates of 2019, the Reserve Bank of Malawi, through the Monetary Policy report has said inflation will register an average of 9% in the second quarter of this year.
