During a press briefing held recently, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Director General, Reyneck Matemba, announced that the bureau has frozen a State Residences account which is under investigation for being linked to shady deals.
Matemba said the account is under investigation for crimes during the Peter Mutharika administration which included alleged illegal importation of cement from Zambia using the former president’s Taxpayer’s Identification Number (Tpin).
Following the investigations, the account remains frozen for 90 days and according to Matemba, the bureau will apply for an extension if investigations are not concluded within the specified period.
