Stakeholders have argued that Government is not been keen on transparency, in regards to the Kayelekera Mine Sale. According to Tonse Tipindule Program Manager, Paul Mvula, there are information gaps on the deal, which need to be explained.
Mvula stated that government keeps fuelling speculations and suspicions and keeping information under wraps. “Leaving just two ministers [of natural resources and finance] to decide on behalf of all Malawians is not a good idea” said Mvula.
On the other hand, Parliamentary Committee on Natural Resources chairperson Werani Chilenga confirmed that a meeting will be held, with officials from the Ministry of Mines on January 27, 2020 having an agenda to update on the Kayerekera Uranium Mine deal.
