As action towards the need to assist directly in the fight against COVID-19, KFC in Lilongwe acted by donating face screens and protection suits to be distributed in hospitals by the Asian Business Community.
KFC Operations Manager Hennie Buys said the donation was made in response to health workers’ demand for the equipment. “ we had become aware of the need for safety equipment when we saw the news that nurses were refusing to work due to a shortage of safety materials. This prompted us to provide this donation as part of our social responsibility.” said Buys.
Starting the charity at home, KFC has been implementing infection prevention measures in its stores and educating staff and our customers regarding the reason for these preventative measures. “Educational materials regarding COVID-19 are up in all our stores” said the operations manager.
The donation worth K600,000 was received with thanks, as it would render to nursing staff on the front lines of the COVID-19 battle. Meanwhile, amidst households urged to stay at home, Buys assured that KFC is making doorstep deliveries. “For KFC to do its part in the fight against the COVID-19 we are doing daily delivery and pickup options to our customers.” he said
