The Ministry of Helath has confirmed that tests conducted on samples that were taken from a suspected Ebola patient in Karonga District, have shown that the patient did not succumb to Ebola.
It was reported that a 37-year-old man (name withheld) from James Village, Traditional Authority Kilupula in the lakeshore district, had signs and symptoms were similar to those an Ebola patient.
The spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, Joshua Malango, confirmed that the results from South Africa’s National Institute of Communicable Diseases Laboratory showed negative of Ebola virus.
On the other hand, Malango, had earlier this month, confirmed that Ebola preparedness supplies arrived in Malawi. Speaking to the media Malango said that although there is no cause for alarm, but following worrying developments in DRC, Government thought it essential for Malawi make preparations to prevent the virus entering and affecting the population.
