The Malawi Revenue Authority MRA head of corporate affairs Steve Kapoloma told The Nation newspaper that until the end of this month, owners of motor vehicles, motor cycles and other goods that were not duly cleared or smuggled, have a chance of applying for Voluntary Compliance Window (VCW)
The window was introduced as MRA’s means of mitigation measures set by government to relieve taxpayers in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. During the widow thus far, the authority has collected K4 billion, accumulated by 4000 voluntary tax payers.
In April, when the window was being announced, the MRA Commissioner General said that the window will see individuals and organisations to regularize their tax affairs without suffering from penalties, interests and charges.
