The Minister of Transport and Public works Jappie Mhango announced the construction of Likoma Jetty at the foot of Mbuzi hill which is aimed at elevating economic activities and liberation to transport logistics in the district.

At a construction launch ceremony that happened recently at Mbuzi in the area of Traditional Authority Mkumpha 3, the Minister revealed that Motor Engil Construction company has been hired to construct the development.

 The Acting Director for the Marine Department Captain John Mhango said the project is determined to possess a lifespan of more than 50 years despite some challenges of water levels influenced by climatic changes.
