Limbe Auction Floors opened this week with prices registering $2.50/kg on contract and $1.30 on auction market, as the prices are higher than $2.30 and $1.20 on contract and auction respectively, recorded at the Lilongwe floors on opening day and higher than $2.40 price recorded on contract market on first day of trading Chinkhoma.
On the other hand, during a press briefing on Friday, AHL Tobacco Sales general manager Graham Kunimba outlined that the tobacco market has so far registered a high rejection rate of 37.7% and low volumes sold.
The high rejection rate has been attributed to the mixing of different tobacco grades, while the auction floors will be open on Saturdays to ensure that more volumes are sold.
