A notice signed by the Chairman of the Limbe Muslim Jamaat (LMJ) has announced that trustees of LMJ have made a tough call to close down all Masjids under LMJ, considering the corona virus outbreak in Malawi.
“It is a very difficult time and unfortunately we have no choice but to take this hard approach including considering points from the President’s statement” says the circular. The call follows as Malawi has so far registered 8 confirmed cases and one death. While closing down the mosques to prevent the spread of the pandemic, LMJ has also instructed that compounds should be closed and no outsiders allowed.
However, the notice has called the faithfuls to continue Azaans, 5 times a day. “Namaaz to be performed by Imams and only those who reside in the compound of the respective Masjid should be allowed to pray behind the Imam, strictly no outsiders just like what is being observed in the 2 Harams (Makah n Madina)” says the notice.
The notice has also emphasized that all instructions therein, are a directive from all trustees.
