The African Utility Week Industry Awards, has nominated Lilongwe Water Board (LWB) Chief Executive Officer Alfonso Chikuni for the category named ‘Outstanding Contribution; Water’. On the other hand, Liliongwe Water Board itself has been nominated for in the category of Water Service Provider of the Year, an award which the board won in 2017.
The African Utility Week Industry Awards rewards and celebrates success of Africa’s power and water sectors, bringing together over 800 of Africa’s power and water industry professionals.
LWB has been nominated alongside from Umgeni Water (Kwazulu-Natal, South Africa), Hessequa Local Municipality (Western Cape Province, South Africa) and Ontec Systems (Cape Town, South Africa). Meanwhile Chikuni is a nominee alongside Andras Szollosi Nagy (President of the Governing Board of Sustainable Development Studies Institute at National University of Public Service) Andre Kruger (Head of Africa Investment & Intergration Desk) and Damas Alfred Mashauri (Professor of Social Engineering at University of Namibia; Engineering &IT). The awards will happen on 15th May in Cape Town, South Africa.
