A tobacco farmer’s grouping known as Tobacco Farmers Profit Improving and Income Generating Association (Tofipia) has expressed its concerns over reduced demand of tobacco from buying companies.
The above was addressed at Tofipia’s annual general meeting where it was noted that in the past years, despite an improved sales record, there has been a low demand for tobacco. Tobacco Control Commission (TCC) has attributed the low demand and prices to low quality products, of which the solution, according to TCC is to produce high quality tobacco.
TCC is yet to announce the tobacco demand and pricing for this year, as last year it was hinted that the demand may be slightly lower.
