The Lilongwe Society for the Protection and Care of Animals (LSPCA) has engaged pet vendors to have a designated market, since selling pets in the streets is against the law.
Affirming the above was Central West Region Police community policing coordinator Patricia Njawiri outlined that It is illegal to subject animals to cruelty, in accordance with Section 66 of the Animal Protection Act of 1970.
The LSPCA engaged the vendors in partnership with the police and Lilongwe City Council. Following the meeting, Lilongwe Pet Sellers Association chairperson James Masuku said they are ready to relocate to a designated place.
