The Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (Macra) has reduced its rates at which telecommunication companies are charged. Following suit, the telecommunication companies have also slashed their tariffs for various services and products.
The development lead to notable downward reviews from TNM, MTL, Access and Airtel. Depending on what services and products are offered by a respect company, the tariffs have been lowered on voice or/and internet tariffs.
Macra Communications Manager, Clara Mwafulirwa, said that the lowering of the tariffs is a fulfillment of the implementation of the Cost Models and Pricing Frameworks for Wholesale and Rental Telecommunications Services, which was developed in 2017.
