The Malawi National Examinations Board (Maneb) executive director Gerald Chiunda has confirmed that the board has developed test items and sample papers for the Junior Certificate of Education (JCE) examinations following its re-introduction in February this year.
Last February, the (former) Minister of Education Science and Technology, Dr. William Susuwele-Banda announced alongside the(former) Minister of Information Mark Botomani in Lilongwe that the call to“ re- introduce Junior Certificate of Education (JCE) Examinations came as a means of enhancing quality. They added that the abolition of JCE Examinations meant that students were taking four years in secondary school before taking the National examination.
With the next sitting prepared for the 2020/2021 school calendar, Chiunda announced that some subjects will be merged into one examination paper, namely Social Studies and Life Skills, which will start being administered from 2022.”
