The Southern African Development Community Accreditation Services (Sadcas) has accredited the Malawi Bureau of Standards (MBS) in the management system certification, making MBS an internationally recognised firm, meaning that MBS is now competent to certify any organisation.
Present at the certification ceremony, the Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism, Salim Bagus, outlined that the certificate empowers MBS will certify products that are made outside Malawi. “With this accreditation, Malawi will also have an upper hand to ably compete in the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA)” said Bagus.
In 2018, Sadcas also recognised MBS. The MBS board chairperson, Action Amosi, noted that this certification brought good reputation towards Malawian products.
