Malawi College of Accountancy (MCA) graduands from all campuses, are demanding the college management to conduct their graduation by November 20 this year, or else take the institution to court over alleged failure to arrange their graduation ceremony.
According to the graduands, they made a request to the MCA management to give them their certificates and then hold a graduation ceremony later when the Covid-19 situation calms, but they got response, as there was no response to their suggestion to organize a graduation with all covid-19 preventive measures applied.
2 weeks ago, the UNIMA Students Union (UMSU) refused to hold a virtual graduation ceremony for 2019 graduands, suggesting that the University of Malawi (UNIMA) should organize a ceremony that adheres to Covid-19 safety measures.
Speaking to Zodiak Broadcasting Station, the union’s President, Scalioth Chithokonya suggested that the program can be set to allow a specific number of people per time to avoid congestion. “..also the use of different venues such as multipurpose halls and stadiums to help divide the congregation and minimize congestion,” he said.
