In a statement by the Malawi Defence Force (MDF), a warning has been issued, regarding reports from the general public indicating that they are getting telephone calls from people who typically identify themselves as MDF recruitment officers  informing them they have been considered for recruitment in the MDF.

“The Malawi Defence Force urges members of the public to be cautious of telephone calls from these criminals and where the perpetrators are identified, to report to any nearby MDF installation or Malawi police Service station in their areas,” warned the statement.

MDF’s public information officer, Major Paul Chiphwanya, disclaimed that MDF is not behind the scheme and has no affiliation or connection in any way with this alleged offer of employment. The statement partly reads, “This is a deceptive scheme designed to defraud members of the public as the callers demand money as processing fee via Airtel Money or TNM Mpamba using different mobile numbers,” said the statement
