Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority is considering reviewing Escom’s electricity tariff, in accordance to the Automatic Tariff Adjustment Formula (ATAF).

Noting that the last electricity tariff adjustment in October 2018 was due to a 9.3% inflation rate that changed to 9.9% inflation increment in December 2018, according to one of Mera’s latest press releases.

However, the Board has resolved to maintain tariffs at the current average of K95.15/kWh, stating that the “ATAF outcome is within the 5% statutory trigger brand.”
