Ministry of Labour, Skills Development and Innovation has launchede a Public Private Sector Skills Development Forum, aimed at providing demand-driven training and contribute to employment opportunities for the youth.
During the launch, the Minister of Labour, Martha Lunji Mhone said the forum will help address the gap between the training institutions and the industry. According to the Malawi Confederation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (MCCCI) deputy president James Chimwaza, the Tevet system is being a major player in development of skilled labour.
In June this year, Technical, Entrepreneurial, Vocational Education and Training Authority (Teveta) called for partnerships with stakeholders in skills development in an effort to ensure effective delivery of skills training.
Teveta executive director Wilson Makulumiza -Nkhoma made the call during the workshop for Public, Private Sector Skills Development Forum. According to Makulumiza-Nkhoma, the collaboration will improve quality and relevance of Tevet programs.
