On 15th April 2020, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Director-General, Reyneck Matemba, blocked about 30 people from working at Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) stating that their recruitment process which was allegedly in violation of the Corrupt Practices Act.
Matemba sent the notice to MRA Commissioner General, Tom Malata, therefore blocking the applicants from reporting to work. The applicants’ presentative, Julius Makondetsa told The Daily Times newspaper that they had been interviewed and were successful, hence the directive by the ACB was uncalled for.
The case is expected to be heard by High Court judge, Healey Potani who said the court shall either decide the matter on due date.
