The Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) donated 200 bags of maize flour weighing 25 kilograms each to the Department of Disaster Management Affairs (DODMA).
According to MRA’s Head of Corporate Affairs Steven Kapoloma, the maize flour was seized during MRA’s operations, following unlicensed maize flour importation. The flour has since been distributed to communities affected by hunger and floods in the country.
On the other hand the Christian charity organisation, Stephanos Foundation, has called on the government to implement a thorough disaster assessment on affected people in Lower Shire districts of Chikwawa and Nsanje. The assessments will evaluate the damage caused and will therefore call for adequate relief from various donors.
