Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) has launched a campaign aimed at encouraging consumers to demand Electronic Fiscal Device (EFD) receipts for every transaction made to enhance collection of Value Added Tax (VAT).
The campaign, ‘Kuiphula ndi lisiti langa’ is aimed to run from January to March this year, as buyers will be sensitised on the importance of demanding EFD receipts while also VAT registered businesses will be reminded of their obligation to issue EFD receipt for every sale.
During the launch of the campaign, MRA Deputy Commissioner General, Henry Ngutwa, Since MRA officers are not in every corner to enforce the compliance, the general public to join in this noble cause by acting swiftly to inform MRA about dealers who do not issue an EFD receipt or shops where they have not been issued with a correct receipt.
