Aside from recently seizing smuggled beer products and sugar, Malawi Revenue Authority has released a statement, warning smugglers of intensified border patrols and inspections.

The statement further warns that recommended sugar by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism, contains Vitamin A; a supplement that is not in the smuggled sugar.

To keep citizens from consuming such unhealthy products, MRA is urging the general public to dial toll free numbers; 847 for Airtel, TNM and Access subscribers and 80000847 for MTL subscribers.

A minimum of 10% of taxes recovered and a maximum of K500,000 will be given to a tip leading to a successful arrest.
