Although Malawi was not listed as one of the hosts for the 2019 under 17 African Cup of Nations qualifier matches, the Deputy General Secretary for the Confederation of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA), Suzgo Nyirenda confirmed that Malawi has a chance to host the under 17 tournament this year.

The development comes as a resolve at COSAFA’s Annual General Meeting where it was said that all member countries should have an opportunity to host COSAFA tournaments.

Nyirenda also revealed the ambition for Malawi to host senior COSAFA tournament in 2021. Should the development be implemented, Malawi’s economy is set to boost.
