During a media workshop on emerging trends in product certification and standards, Malawi Bureau of Standards (MBS) Director General, Symon Mandala, outlined that the bureau will intensify on ensuring quality of local products in line with local certification requirements and international standards.
Mandala said the bureau intends to set up satellite laboratories in the Central and Northern regions to help in handling samples, a development that will ensure that traders are not falling short of the bureau’s services, which will help to achieve consumer satisfaction and protection.
On the other hand MBS Director of Standards, Fred Sikwese urged Malawians to prioritise products which are certified by the bureau. During the ban of the Revin energy drink’s Media briefing last year, the Malawi Bureau of Standards and the Pharmacy, Medicines and Poisons Board (PMPB) addressed manufacturers to be honest with what they are offering in public.
