World Bank’s Country Environmental Analysis (CEA) has shown that Malawi’s environmental degradation is a risk towards future economic growth prospects.

Outlining various contributors to land degradation, the analysis states that unless effort is not put into fighting against land degradation, Malawi will not experience an economic growth.

Figures show that the wealth gap between the average for other sub-Saharan African countries is due to lack of nonrenewable resources.
