Castel Malawi Limited has partnered with a United Kingdom (UK)-based firm Jacobs and Wells, a development that will see Castel exporting Malawi Gin, to Europe.

Last year, South Africa’s firebrand politician and  Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema trended in a YouTube video in which he is with South Africa-based Malawian construction industry mogul Ashan Simbi Phiri  captured enjoying local alcoholic beverage, Malawi Gin. In the video, Malema said Malawi Gin is the best in the world. Moving to further international recognition, the locally brewed gin will gain territory in cultures that enjoy spirits. Castel Malawi exports manager Sellina Mhango said the global spirit market assessment shows a huge potential for business of spirits family with products such as Malawi Vodka, premier Brandy and Malawi Gin having the potential to compete fairly with other international brands across Africa and beyond

On the other hand, Jacobs and Wells director Alex Sukali outlined that the company, using an initiative called Experience Malawi, will avail the locally brewed spirits to the international market.
