Figures from the National Statistical Office (NSO) have shown a decrease in imports and exports in Malawi, worsening the trade balance in the country.
In August, imports declined to K119.1 during the period under review from K179.3 billion the same period last year while exports declined to K27.3 billion from K70.1 billion.
Meanwhile, the National Export Strategy (NES II), aims to reduce the trade deficit by 25% from -$1 827 060. NES II aims to see imports and exports improve between 2020-2025.
