Luke Perry is famous for acting in Beverly Hills, and 90210 among other notable movies and series. In March 2019, he passed on due to a severe stroke. His 18 year old daughter  Sophie has been living in Malawi, serving as a development instructor to help build preschools in rural communities, where she has opened a preschool or in Malawian terms, a nursery.

With the company of her friends Gabriella and Ruben, Sophie has thanked all the donors towards her project. She posted on her instagram, “Our first school is finished and I can’t tell you how proud and excited I am to see it open on Wednesday. Thank you to my amazing partner Ruben for everything. Especially for fighting to name the school after my dad.”

According the volunteer group’s GoFundMe page, the work they are doing includes “building schools, working in teacher training colleges, educating about the prevention of HIV and AIDS, creating clean water systems, building toilets, and teaching and beginning profitable farming projects, as a source of income and nutrition for the communities”. Sophie was also in Malawi by the time of her father’s death, but she returned to keep volunteering and has named one nursery school after him; the school is called Bvucco Luke pre school.
