For the very first time, Malawi will host the East, Central and Southern Africa Employer Organisation Conference in June this year.
The conference will be co-organised by the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and Employers Consultative Association of Malawi (ECAM). Special guests from ILO, International Organization of Employers (IOE), SADC Private Sector Forum and Business Africa are expected to attend.
Confirming the news, Senior Employers Specialist for ILO Maria Machailo-Ellis said that the aim of the conference is for member countries within the three sub-regions of Africa to come together and share experiences in as far as issues of labour and employment are concerned.
“The idea behind the conference is to come and share experiences from different private sector organisations around the three sub-regions of East, Central and Southern Africa and then to come up with decisions on how these issues can be tackled,” said Machailo-Ellis.
