Yanqing district in Beijing, China, will host the six-month horticulture event from April 29 to October 7 2019, approved by the International Association of Horticultural Producers (Aiph). Malawi Investment and trade centre (MITC) has revealed plans to go to the expo identifying market opportunities of close to $300 million (about K222 billion).
MITC is targeting to send 25 firms to learn and network with potential buyers and possibly discuss some business deals; these firms are from all key sectors of the economy.
MITC Public relations manager Deliby Chimbalu revealed that these firms will be sent to China in phases. Should the deals be closed successfully, Malawi will record an improvement in the trade gap, which is worsening at the moment, according to figures from the National Statistics Office.
