Malawi’s trade balance registered minus $525.1 million in the third quarter of 2018, making it worse than the second quarter’s deficit of $419.6 million. Both deficits have been higher than the third quarter of 2017 which registered minus $372.3 million.
The Malawi Investment Trade Centre (MITC) has therefore urged local manufacturers to intensify efforts towards increasing productivity and lowering the trade deficit which has been said to be continuously widening.
