NATURAL HERBS MARKET UNDER SUSPICION – Malawi

According to the Malawi Environmental Health Association (Meha), natural herbs and natural juices that are abundant on the market, may be lethal. Following the suspicion, Meha has called on the Medicine and Poisons Board, concerning the herbs.

Meha president Elias Chimulambe, wrote to the Medicine and Poisons Board that the Meha has called on two organisations to conduct inspections to premises of those producing, manufacturing, distributing and selling the natural herb products and natural herb ‘healing’ juices.

On the other hand, more than 65 Medicine stores were closed in 2017 alone, for neglecting necessary pharmacy procedures, in violation of the Medicines and Poisons Board Act No.15 of 1988.
