National Bank of Malawi (NBM) plc has donated treadmills and bikes worth K4 million to Kachere Rehabilitation Centre, as NBM Marketing and Corporate Affairs Manager Akossa Hiwa said the donation was in support of the services provided at the centre.
“It is the only facility in Malawi to offer such services as physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy. We would like to aid their efforts in provision of these services, which is why we’ve provided equipment today,” Hiwa said.
Receiving the items on behalf of Kachere Rehabilitation Centre, Malawi Against Physical Disabilities Chairperson Tom Mwamadi, the equipment would give a chance to other patients on the waiting list, since the equipment already at the centre caters for 40 patients only.
Mwamadi also thanked NBM for the donation made, especially amid the pandemic when businesses are not doing well. “…despite this situation, they have managed to support us with this equipment. We urge other companies and individuals to emulate what NBM plc has done,” Mwamwadi said.
