National Bank of Malawi (NBM) donated K70 million towards the country’s fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

NBM Chief Executive Officer Macfassy Kawawa presented the above to the Presidential Taskforce on Covid.

The donation follows after President Lazarus Chakwera called on private institutions and others to contribute towards the fight against further spread of the virus in the country. Chakwera recently confirmed that the new variant of coronavirus that has been circulating in South Africa called 501.V2 is now being seen in Malawi as the Covid-19 cases continue to surge with increased death rates.
