Farmers will benefit from improved Soya bean yields from new soya bean varieties that are to be certified, Chitedze Research Station has revealed.
The Department of Agriculture Research Services unveiled new soya bean varieties while Chitedze Research Station had planted at least eight different varieties of soya beans in January to test which variety would stand out. The research station’s research officer William Phiri outlined that farmers favored the TGX 1990–46F, which will be experimented and sampled in other districts. “if the varieties pass the tests, they will be certified, ready to be used by the farmers” said Phiri.
Comparing prior varieties to the new ones, farmers have hailed latter as satisfactory. “We are optimistic that we will flourish in soya bean farming due to the introduction of the new varieties,” said one of the farmers.
