President Arthur Peter Mutharika has appointed the immediate former Malawi Defence Force General Vincent Nundwe as Malawi’s High Commissioner to the Republic of India, as announced by the office of the Chief Secretary to the Government.
The development follows after the Office of President and Cabinet (OPC) had announced that General Vincent Nundwe and his former deputy Lieutenant General Clement Namangale would be assigned other duties in the public service.
Nundwe was replaced by General Peter Namathanga as Major General Davis Mtachi was appointed Deputy Commander and has been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-General. The reshuffle in the military ranks saw Brigadier General Elias Mpaso appointed as Army Commander (Land Forces) following his promotion to the rank of Major General whereas Brigadier Francis Kakhuta-Banda remains Maritime Force Commander but was promoted to the rank of Major General.
