The Office of the President and Cabinet has appointed the President of the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) Walter Nyamilandu as chief executive officer for the Green Belt Authority (GBA).
With immediate effect, Nyamilandu has replaced Henrie Njoloma whose contract expired. The GBA invested $8 million (about K6 billion) in Intensive Vegetable Farming Project in Lumbadzi, Lilongwe, as former chief executive officer Henri Njoloma revealed that government has already secured 28 hectares where they will grow all types of vegetables in a project that is expected to create 500 jobs; such a project and more will be overseen by Nyamilandu.
Malawi Mangoes and Salima Sugar Company are a few of many beneficiaries of the project which is boosting large scale agro-businesses in Malawi.
