United States Executive Assistant Commissioner for Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Brenda Smith, led a delegation of CBP into Malawi to follow up on the Withhold and Release Order imposed on Malawi tobacco in November 2019.

Smith and her delegation had meetings with officials from the Ministries of Labour, Agriculture and Trade, as well as the Tobacco Commission (TC), as TC Chief Executive Officer, Kaisi Sadala, confirmed about the meetings

Prior to the meeting, Auction Holdings Limited (AHL) Tobacco Sales ensured on monitoring and sensitising tobacco growers on production standards, especially matters of child labour and poor tobacco leaf grading.
