Following preventative measures amidst the coronavirus pandemic in Malawi, Malawi Stock Exchange (MSE) has said it is exploring ways in which listed companies could host their Annual General Meetings (AGMs), having discussions with listed companies on how to implement the virtual AGM.
MSE Chief Executive Officer, John Kamanga, said that currently, the companies have been given a timeframe to consider which way is best to hold a virtual AGM, but after the timeframe, other modalities will be explored, especially meetings where not more than 100 shareholders would attend.
Speaking with Daily Times, General Secretary of the Minority Shareholders Association of Listed Companies, Frank Harawa, said the decision to host virtual AGMs is not practical as some shareholders may not have necessary equipment to participate.
