Roads Fund Administration Board Chairperson, Chancy Gondwe said procurements are awarded to the lowest price bidder, so most road have low levels of sustainability because there is keen emphasis is minimising costs.
On the other hand, the Roads Funds Administration revealed that it will start constructing a road user toll fee collection centre to ensure that funds are available for roads maintenance. “All is set for construction of the plaza to begin. We acquired a plot at Chingeni and compensations have already been done. Soon construction will begin. Once completed, we will be able to obtain funds that will help finance construction and rehabilitation of our roads,” said Gondwe.
