The Department of Climate Change and Meteorological Services has issued a statement concerning Cyclone Kenneth, which may affect areas in the northern region.
The statement reads, “A deep low pressure system with atmospheric pressure of 1008 millibars has developed in the Indian Ocean, north of Madagascar..”
The deep low pressure is expected to change its status to a Tropical Cyclone, on 24th April 2019. The cyclone, according to list of names for Tropical Cyclones in South West Indian Ocean region, will be called Cyclone Kenneth.
Meanwhile the department is monitoring the movement of the deep low pressure and its its intensity. This low pressure can directly or indirectly affect the weather in Malawi, but the department will continue to update people about the situation.
